Old Orchard Beach dining is predominantly casual, and that’s by design. The town has always been a working-class beach resort: affordable, unpretentious, and proud of it. Most restaurants are flip-flops-welcome, menus-on-chalkboards, eat-outside-when-you-can kind of places. That extends to the seafood shacks, the pizza windows, the fried dough stands, and the ice cream shops that are as much a part of the dining culture here as any sit-down restaurant. That said, there are a small number of spots with more considered menus and a quieter atmosphere if you want something more relaxed for an anniversary or an evening without the boardwalk energy. The mix is part of what makes OOB work for such a wide range of guests. Families, couples, solo travellers, and groups all find something that fits without having to compromise much.
